As a DJ who performs at many types of events, I always appreciate a timeless song that almost seems to get better over the years. This is how I feel about the classic 70's song, September by Earth, Wind & Fire. When this song is played to the right crowd, it simply lights the dance floor on first. September has it all - great energy, an incredible groove & catchy vocals you can sing along to.
Over the years, I've always had this in my mind as a song I'd love to remix. I finally pulled the trigger, and created a fresh house version of the timeless classic. I thought long and hard about how I wanted to approach this remix. The song is so perfect already, so I wanted to maintain as many elements of the original as I could. Obviously the vocal being one of them, but other instruments such as the horns, string, and guitars too.
When I'm making electronic music, I use a program called Ableton. This program is amazing, and I've been using it for years. I added the original elements of the song that I wanted to keep, while adding my own instruments to create the electronic vibe. I added my own drums, bassline, and chords using software synthesizers. The result is one that I'm very happy with, and I'm very excited to play my remix in the future.
